UK
Storm Ciarán arrived shortly after Storm Babet but this time the damage was located in the Channel Islands and south coast of England. There has also been severe flooding in Northern Ireland. Storm Babet predominantly affected Scotland and the Midlands. Our teams were working all last weekend and we are ramping up to meet further demand today.
Our dedicated team in Jersey has been out supporting affected homeowners and businesses since early this morning and further adjusters from our major loss, property and agricultural teams are travelling to Jersey today to provide additional support. One resident described the impact as worse than that caused by the Great Storm of 1987.
It has been a busy period for our UK team, as Storm Ciarán is the second named storm this month and a substantial number of claims are arriving for the areas affected. We have been monitoring weather patterns closely over the past week and mapping our resource carefully to so we can support communities affected by both Storm Babet and Ciarán.
As well as responding to agriculture, commercial, domestic and high net worth claims, our managed repair team, Crawford Contractor Connection, has been responding to claims direct and carrying out emergency repairs.
As the storm moves on, extreme weather looks set to continue with downpours and very strong winds affecting Scotland and parts of northern England. With more rain forecast and the ground saturated, it is clear that flooding is an ongoing risk for many parts of the UK throughout the rest of today and into the weekend.
We know how devastating flood and storm claims can be and our teams are committed to responding promptly to claims and supporting communities during this time.
Europe
Storm Ciarán wreaked havoc across Europe with torrential rain and winds of up to 200km/h (124mph), damaging homes and forcing schools to close and airlines and train companies to halt services.
The worst affected areas are Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy and Spain. Parts of France have been severely damaged particularly in Bretagne and Normandy. Our partners, , are mobilising their teams to meet demand in France.
Our adjusting teams across Europe have started to respond as quickly as possible to claims. Claims can be reported direct to our offices in Europe and they are ready to support you and your customers.
